Southwestern College Study Skills

Southwestern College Study Skills

The Palomar High School College Study Skills Class is a preparation for college course. This is a dual-enrollment course, and students will have the opportunity to earn two high school electives and two college units with Southwest College at the completion of the course. A college professor comes to the Palomar campus to deliver instruction weekly, giving students a unique opportunity to experience college before they get there!

This course concentrates on skills such as: note taking, organization, studying, and writing for college. Students are required to maintain notebooks, participate in class discussions, attend field trip, and complete homework. This course will assist students with college application, essay writing, sharpening social and interview skills, and financial aid/scholarship applications. Students who complete this course will be prepared to enroll in college-level courses, and have financial assistance to help them reach their post-high school academic goals.

Past college campus tours have included; San Diego City College, Southwest College, University of California San Diego, University of California Los Angeles, and more!

Successfully completing students will already be enrolled at Southwestern College, ready to start classes as soon as they receive their diploma!
